At Moring-San Martial Arts we believe that both our Shorin-Ryu Karate class and our MMA class compliment each other. Aspects of Karate can be found heavily present in the Mixed Martial Arts class as we take elements from Ippons, Kata, and basics and mix them into modern fighting styles for practical application. Each MMA class concentrates on conditioning, striking, grappling, sparring (kumite), bag work, and much more.
The MMA portion of training is taught with two premises in mind: sport and self-defense. Both methodologies focus on movement: all aspects of striking, throwing, and grappling. We also emphasis getting to your feet and mobile as quickly as possible for both methodologies. The major difference between the two is our sporting techniques follow MMA rules where as self-defense methods can use any means necessary for survival. The self-defense methods also have a larger variety of strikes and weapons at the defenders disposal.
